5 Moms Reversing Type 1 Diabetes Following New Research

The scientific consensus on what causes Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) has changed dramatically in recent years. Scientists now report T1D is triggered by much more than just autoimmunity. Newer studies show different environmental circumstances come together, resulting in excessive free radical production and DNA damage. This causes beta cells to malfunction, insulin defects and reduced insulin output. Beta cell defects attract immune cells, resulting in beta cell elimination, with autoimmunity appearing much later. The takeaway is that by avoiding environmental circumstances toxic to beta cells, immune cells are not summoned and beta cell function can return to normal. The second part of the program is to introduce into the diet a wide array of polyphenol compounds found in specific plants, vegetables and fruits.
These are showing the ability to activate genes involved in beta cell and islet regeneration, as well as improvements in glucose uptake by GLUT4 transporters. It is important to note this is NOT A CURE TO T1D, but rather, a common-sense strategy proposed in the medical literature for mediating extreme highs and lows as well as reducing insulin requirements. This information is offered for observation and families should consult with their physician before beginning any new treatment strategy
